DIY Nail Art: Splatter Manicure

Guest Post by Gurpreet
Hey Girls,
Last weekend, I wanted to do something colorful and abstract on my nails, then I came across splatter manicure on the internet and here is the end result. J
I started off by painting my nails with a white polish to use as a base color.
Then, I splashed three different colored nail polishes one by one on my white base nails with the help of a drinking straw and I was good.
Basically dipping one end of the straw into the polish bottle such that it forms a thin film on that open end of the straw; then blowing air from the other end of the straw with your mouth, so that the polish splatters onto the nail. You may need to try with different nail polishes on a rough sheet before actually splattering onto your nails. You may also see huge blobs of color when you blow; so adjust the distance between your nails and straw accordingly. You should be able to do this with a few practise splatterings. Don’t forget to use a newspaper or any other rough paper to use as a pllatform to work on coz this is going to be very messy. Try putting some vaseline/oil onto your fingers and specially on the back of your nails before splattering, so that cleaning becomes easy afterwards. Once you’re happy with the splatter, wait for the polishes to dry and seal it with a top coat (a must), and you’re ready to show off your funky nails. J

For this manicure I used Lotus Herbals Pure White 81 as a base and the three colored polishes that I used for splattering were Kiko 386 (Blue), Kiko 389 (Mint Green), and Nail Lacquer 11 (Red). The top coat used was Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base and Top coat.
Hope you are tempted to try this colorful manicure this festive season. Do share your pictures and thoughts in the comments section below. I would love to hear back your experiences and color combinations.
Cheers!
GP
